Abstract
Como se sabe, este año se conmemoran 400 años de la publicación de la primera parte de la obra inmortal de Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Ya en sus también clásicas Meditaciones del Quijote, Ortega y Gasset se refiere a la forma en que debemos «sitiar» la obra; algo muy diferente a una cierta actitud científica en la que iríamos, como el cazador, tras la «presa». Más bien, se trata de que «en amplios giros, nuestros pensamientos y nuestras emociones han de irse estrechando lentamente, dando al aire como sones de ideales trompetas» (Ortega y Gasset, 39). No otra cosa es lo que nos proponemos, de manera breve, y con el objeto de elucidar ciertas características de la raíz cervantina de la modernidad.
