Transactional model of stress and coping styles in psychological stress research: Critical analysis.
Main Article Content
Abstract
The transactional model of stress, developed by Lazarus and Folkman in 1984, revolutionized the understanding of stress by approaching it as a dynamic and multifactorial process, in contrast to previous theories that considered it an automatic response. However, discrepancies persist, especially in the conception of coping. While the transactional model emphasizes adaptability and continuous change, coping styles suggest a stable predisposition toward specific strategies. This text examines these differences and seeks to promote a more precise application of the transactional model in stress research.
