Association between personal and family resources in late adolescents

Abstract

The adolescent development revolves around a path of personal growth, which focuses attention on personal and family resources that will allow you to face your own transformations, mainly in the late stage, time in which the adolescent consolidates its identity, assumes the responsibility of choosing their vocation‐based and projected a future life plan. From this arises the objective of the present study, which is to analyze the relationship between personal and family resources in late teens. It is based on a quantitative methodology with non‐experimental design, correlation scope. The sample was formed by 463 adolescents with a range of age between 18 and 21 years; the scale of intra‐household relations (Rivera‐Heredia‐Heredia & Andrade, 1999), the personal psychological resources and social, Rivera‐Heredia‐Heredia & Andrade (2006) and a questionnaire for identification of contextual variables were used. The findings emphasize partnership between family and personal resources predominantly of the union dimension and support with the affective, cognitive, surrounding, instrumental and material resources. It is concluded that there is relationship between the personal strengths of adolescents and the endowed by the relations inside the family cohesion and coexistence among its members.
