Abstract

At the university level, professors often request essays to assess some topics, because it allows to appreciate not only the understanding of a topic or learning content, but also
its level of analysis, synthesis, critical appraisal, and even of proposing proposals. With the intention to especially support university or graduate students who wish to have more information
on how to structure an essay, the Lic. in Hispanic Letters María Teresa Estrada, offers us briefly, a reference about the origin of the essay and its basic characteristics.
