Identification and bond with the mother before the migration of the father. Study of two cases
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper presents research carried out with two girls aged between three to five years old, going through oedipal stage and whose parents emigrated to United States. In order to find the identification and bond with the mother, psychoanalytic techniques of interpretation were used after 3 playing sessions with each girl; the projective test CAT, portrait drawings of family and three depth interviews with these girl’s mothers were also applied. Results show the psychological effects of father absence. Such effects differ when father absence occurred at an earlier stage and it has more severe repercussions on identification with the mother. However, the two cases share a similarities in the way to assume a parental role; they manifest depression,
ambivalence and increased aggression
