The conjugal violence and transgenerational transmission
Main Article Content
Abstract
Conjugal violence is a traumatic and destructive act of the psychism to the victim as well as to the person who witness it. Creating representational gaps that obstruct their psychic development and predispose their transition, which present themselves in the next generations through this transgenerational transmission process; various psychic mechanisms are passed along which are directly related to this violent act. In this qualitative investigation, 5 dyads were carried out which were formed by a mother and a son or daughter in the ages between 15 and 18 years old. In-depth interviews were carried out to them as well as the Adult Attachment Prototype Rating by Martinez and Nuñez (2007.) Findings were that alienating designations, negation and repetition are transgenerational factors that favor the psychic transmission of violence; aside from it being a pathological way to link a person and their family or a spouse which leaves behind gaps in
the generational chain. Ultimately, the transgenerational transmission of violence is linked directly to the presence of family secrets and the lack of psychic representations of them
