Abstract
In the context of the expansion of companies related to automotive industry in the Mexican Bajio region, whose actions have an impact on employment, the processes of qualification of labor force and the ways in which workers perceive and give meaning to their work, a research in an automotive component company installed in the Metropolitan Area of Querétaro (ZMQ) was carried out. The objective was to investigate: a) if there are ways of involving the workers in the functions performed during the work process; b) if appropriate, analyze the forms of such involvement; c) to know the perception of work that workers give to their work activity. A methodology in three phases was applied, the first one consisted in direct observations in the factory, in the second one an interview, in the third one was applied an instrument of own design in which the functions and industrial relations are valued. The main results point, in first place, to the idea that workers do not know and/or have not appropriated the mission established by the company; Secondly, unilateral management decisions have a direct impact, in the negative meaning that workers assign to their work activity.
