Abstract
The present work was carried out with the purpose of knowing the association of psychological well-being with respect to the attitude toward indebtedness and the decision-making pattern in 225 employees of 17 Universities (IES) (teachers [n = 108], administrative [n = 117], M = 41.91 years, SD = 10.65, range 19 to 73 years, 35% [n = 78] men and 65% [n = 143] women). The measurement of psychological well-being included the evaluation of subjective and material aspects, attitudes towards indebtedness alluded to austere and hedonistic factors, while in the decision-making, factors related to vigilance, hypervigilance, transference and procrastination were evaluated. The results showed that subjective well-being (BS) and material well-being (BM) correlate in a positive and significant way with the vigilant decision pattern (r =.394, p .05; r =.170, p .01, respectivamente) and significantly negative with hypervigilant decision patterns (r = -.259, p .05, [BS]; r = -.216, p .05 [BM]), transfer (r = -.384, p .05 [BS]; r = .196, p .05 [BM]) and procrastination (r = -.300, p .05 [BS]; r = -.167, p .01 [BM]). Likewise, subjective wellbeing correlated positively and significantly (r =.137, p .01) with the austere attitude towards indebtedness. The findings show that the presence of an austere attitude towards indebtedness and a more rational decision pattern favor the increase of psychological well-being.
